DIABETES AND NEUROPATHY

This book began with a personal reality: I live with diabetes and neuropathy. I wanted to understand not only what happens inside the body, but also what a person can do, practically and thoughtfully, when symptoms disrupt the routine of life. I wanted to separate useful information from exaggerated promises, and credible hope from wishful thinking.

My purpose is not to tell anyone that a difficult illness can be defeated through determination alone. That would be unfair to people whose symptoms persist despite careful treatment. Nor do I believe that a diagnosis should erase the rest of a person’s identity. We remain parents, partners, friends, workers, travelers, and curious human beings, even when our bodies demand new attention.
